Google's Gemini mobile app makes its debut in Singapore

Google has announced that the Gemini mobile app is now available in Singapore. This latest update sees the Gemini app debuting on mobile devices, signalling a crucial step towards building a fully conversational, multimodal, and indispensable AI assistant. Fitted with Android, users can download the app directly or opt-in via the Google Assistant. For those on iOS, accessibility to Gemini is made seamless as they can access a dedicated Gemini tab right from the Google app confirmed Zi Qin, Senior Associate, Google.

Zi Qin stated, "This means you can now get help from Gemini on the go, which is an important first step in building a true AI assistant, one that is conversational, multimodal and helpful."

Google has further enhanced the functionality of Gemini with the integration of Extensions. Users can utilise Extensions to retrieve pertinent information from various Google tools, including Gmail, Docs, Drive, Google Maps, YouTube, and Google Flights and hotels, available in over 40 languages. Recognising the value of user privacy, Google ensures that users maintain complete control over their privacy settings with the option of disabling Extensions at their discretion.

For desktop usage, Google has introduced an innovative way to access Gemini in Google Chrome. By typing "@gemini" followed by a prompt in the Chrome address bar, users can immediately launch gemini.google.com with a response to their prompt. With this update, Google seeks to enable people globally to leverage the power of Gemini on their mobile devices, boosting both creativity and productivity.
