GoCardless appoints Daliņš as VP, boosts Riga operations

Today

GoCardless has appointed Pēteris Daliņš as VP of Operations and site lead at its Riga office, expanding its leadership team and reinforcing its presence in Latvia.

In his new role, Daliņš will oversee the fintech's global shared services team, which covers customer operations, risk operations, payment processing, and billing. He will also be in charge of GoCardless' second-largest office outside of London, leading the newly formed Riga 'HQ2' Management Committee.

With a career spanning diverse senior management and executive roles across Australia, Asia, and Europe, Daliņš brings extensive experience to his new position at GoCardless. His previous roles include positions at Emergn, Asahi Beverages, and most recently KPMG.

Daliņš' appointment follows GoCardless's acquisition of the Latvian start-up Nordigen in 2022. Since then, the company has significantly expanded its operations in Riga, including the hiring of nearly 100 employees in Latvia. In April, GoCardless announced the opening of its new Riga-based headquarters after an investment of over €1.7 million. The new office, located at Marijas iela 2, is expected to host up to 300 employees by the end of 2024.

Ahmed Badr, Chief Operating Officer at GoCardless, commented on the appointment, saying: "As a global fintech with ambitious growth plans, we need to hire the best leaders in every market. With his international experience and track record of driving operational excellence, Pēteris is the perfect fit for this role. I look forward to working with him and the Riga team to enable GoCardless to deliver on our long-term strategy."

Daliņš expressed excitement about his new role, stating: "I'm excited to help GoCardless establish its 'HQ2' in Riga, building on the talented group of open banking specialists from the initial acquisition and creating a centre of excellence for operations. We are committed to not only growing our presence in Latvia but also becoming a driving force for tech and fintech development across the country. I invite anyone who wants to work in a supportive, high-performing culture to come and join the team."

This expansion underscores GoCardless's commitment to growing its operations and influence in the Latvian tech and fintech sectors. With the appointment of Daliņš and the continued investment in the region, the company aims to strengthen its position as a key player in the global bank payments industry.
