FPT Software and Nanyang Polytechnic partner for student internships
Tue, 14th Nov 2023

FPT Software, a major global technology solutions provider, has agreed to a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Singapore's Nanyang Polytechnic.

The MOU paves the way for software engineering students to participate in internships at FPT's headquarters in Hanoi, Vietnam. This significant five-year arrangement reflects an ongoing commitment between Singapore and Vietnam to collaborate in information technology and education sectors, as part of the Singapore-Vietnam Innovation Talent Exchange Programme that was established in August this year.

The engineering students will have the opportunity to gain practical experiences from FPT Software's international projects during an eight-week global internship programme. FPT Software's distinct expertise in areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) offer students invaluable real-world experiences on a global level, equipping them with knowledge and skills to become industry-ready professionals in the software engineering realm.

FPT Software has extended its commitment to nurturing future tech talent by deepening its collaborative relationship with an Institution of Higher Learning in Singapore for the first time.

Nguyen Khai Hoan, FPT Software's Senior Executive Vice President, said, "This partnership is our commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration between Vietnam and Singapore. FPT Software and Nanyang Polytechnic share many common goals and values centred around innovation and education. Combining both sides capabilities, I believe we can contribute to building a path between the two countries for future tech talents."

As Vietnam grows as a leader in tech innovation, the collaboration provides engineering students from Nanyang Polytechnic a unique chance to explore Vietnam's tech landscape.

It aids in enhancing their readiness post-graduation, especially when working in an established company like FPT Software with a proven framework and varied skill sets across several industries. Graduates from Nanyang Polytechnic can also anticipate increased employment possibilities in both Vietnam and Singapore with FPT Software's local branch, FPT Asia Pacific.

Mr Russell Chan, Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Nanyang Polytechnic, echoed these sentiments. "FPT Software’s footprint is global. It is a MNC with over 27,000 employees in 28 countries providing best-of-class software services to clients around the world – including Global 500 leaders."

"This partnership can only happen because of the quality expertise in our own staff and students, as our learners will work on international projects for high-value clients under FPT’s ambit. We are proud to work with FPT to offer these invaluable opportunities that will give our graduates the advantage and prepare them for an exciting future in Singapore and beyond," he said.

Additionally, FPT Software's partnership extends to two leading Singaporean universities, Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore. These institutions have also initiated tech internship programmes with FPT. This year, numerous cohorts from these universities embarked on a six-month internship experience at FPT's offices in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
