FIVE Petroleum Malaysia has joined Silentmode's RONPOS platform, becoming the fourth fuel retail brand in Malaysia to use the system.

The addition extends RONPOS's reach in its home market to 2,600 fuel stations. The platform has also been operating at more than 50 stations in Singapore since 2025.

FIVE joins PETRONAS, Shell and BHPetrol on the platform. The agreement also includes two newer RONPOS functions, making FIVE the first fuel retailer in Malaysia to deploy both MiniPOS and Multiplatform.

MiniPOS allows station attendants to authorise fuel pumps on the forecourt and accept payments through a mobile device. Multiplatform lets station operators run the system on hardware using any operating system, which can reduce total cost of ownership.

Reza Razali, Chief Executive Officer of Silentmode, linked the new client win to the company's broader regional push.

"We are delighted to have FIVE on board. RONPOS now operates at 2,600 fuel stations across Malaysia and has been operating at more than 50 stations in Singapore since 2025. Following the success of several pilot projects, we are working diligently to expand our footprint in the Philippines. We are encouraged by the progress we have made and will continue to innovate to help fuel retailers operate more efficiently during these challenging economic times," said Razali.

For FIVE, the deal reflects its use of different devices and store formats across the country.

"We are excited to work with Silentmode to roll out a range of devices across multiple platforms for the various market segments we serve. This will allow us to better configure our system setup and serve our communities throughout Malaysia, across stores of different sizes and formats," said Ng.

Regional expansion is a central part of Silentmode's strategy as it seeks growth beyond Malaysia. In July, it concluded a pilot project with EcoOil in the Philippines, marking its third proof-of-concept project in that market.

That progress adds to the group's presence in Singapore, where RONPOS is already in live use. Together, the developments show Silentmode building a broader South-East Asian position in software for fuel retailers and convenience stores, using pilot projects to enter new countries.

Product changes

Alongside the customer and market updates, Silentmode is developing a self-checkout kiosk for fuel stations. The product is intended to address staffing constraints and other operating pressures faced by retailers.

The kiosk would expand RONPOS beyond its current role as a point-of-sale and site management system. Since its launch in 2018, the platform has grown from fuel retail point-of-sale software into inventory and convenience store management, with Silentmode positioning it as an all-in-one system for forecourts and shop operations.

Razali outlined the rationale for the new kiosk during the company's latest update.

"RONPOS's self-checkout kiosks are intended to help clients facing labor shortages and other operational challenges. We hope the new product will be ready by the end of 2027," said Razali.

Malaysia base

Silentmode develops RONPOS in Malaysia and received support through the Malaysia Digital Acceleration Grant from the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation in 2024. The system connects pumps, payments, loyalty programmes and back-office reporting, while also managing convenience store operations at fuel sites.

Malaysia remains the company's main base, and the addition of FIVE reinforces that position. With four of the country's fuel retail brands now on the platform, Silentmode has built a larger domestic footprint before pushing further into neighbouring markets.

Razali said the company's experience outside Malaysia had also shaped its view of what matters to fuel retail customers.

"Our experience in Singapore and the Philippines has shown us that a good product alone is not enough. Fuel retailers want a team that listens and stays committed until the issue at hand is resolved. As we expand into larger markets, we will maintain that same commitment alongside our technology," said Razali.
