Dayforce has agreed to acquire Ribbon AI, adding recruiting technology to its hiring software portfolio.

Ribbon develops artificial intelligence tools that help employers source, screen and engage job candidates. The acquisition brings conversational voice and video interview technology designed to automate early-stage screening and help organisations manage high volumes of recruitment activity.

According to Dayforce, Ribbon's software can support candidate interviews at scale while reducing the time and cost associated with traditional screening. It is also intended to give applicants more flexibility over when and how they take part in interviews.

After the deal closes, Dayforce plans to integrate Ribbon's products into its Dayforce Agentic Recruiting offering. The combined system will cover sourcing, screening, evaluation and candidate engagement in a single workflow.

David Ossip, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Dayforce, said the acquisition aligns with the company's approach to automating repetitive recruitment tasks while leaving final hiring decisions to recruiters.

"High-volume hiring shouldn't mean choosing between speed and a strong candidate experience," Ossip said.

He added: "AI can take on more of the manual, time-sensitive work that slows hiring down, while recruiters focus on engaging talent and making the decisions that matter. Ribbon accelerates our vision for agentic recruiting, helping frontline organisations get the right people into critical roles faster and build a more responsive, resilient workforce."

At-scale use

Ribbon's technology has been deployed by hundreds of customers and used in more than one million completed interviews, according to Dayforce. It has also been tested across as many as 30 million candidates within a single applicant tracking system.

The platform starts with a job description and can generate interview questions and a scoring rubric based on relevant past interviews. It then evaluates candidates using interview transcripts, aiming to create a more structured assessment process.

Ribbon also includes checks designed to flag unusual audio, gaze and response-timing patterns in video interviews. Dayforce said about 90% of Ribbon customers use the recommended default configuration, which helps teams deploy interviews quickly and consistently.

Beyond interviewing, the software includes sourcing and talent rediscovery tools to help employers identify candidates within existing talent pools. It also supports candidate outreach through SMS, WhatsApp and email.

Ribbon is nearing completion of an artificial intelligence scheduling agent intended to streamline another part of the hiring workflow. The tool would extend automation beyond sourcing and screening into interview coordination.

Recruitment pressure

The transaction reflects continued investment in software for high-volume hiring, particularly in frontline and operational roles where employers often process large numbers of applicants in short periods. In those settings, screening delays can leave vacancies unfilled and increase pressure on recruitment teams.

Automation in recruiting has also drawn scrutiny over fairness, consistency and the treatment of applicants. Dayforce and Ribbon framed the deal as a way to improve speed while maintaining a more structured process and a more accessible candidate experience.

Arsham Ghahramani, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ribbon, said the company was founded to widen access for candidates and reduce manual work for recruiters.

"Ribbon was built on a simple belief: every candidate deserves a genuine opportunity to be considered, and every recruiter deserves technology that makes hiring better," Ghahramani said.

He added: "Joining Dayforce will allow us to bring our conversational AI, interview intelligence, sourcing and outreach capabilities to more organisations around the world. Together, we can make hiring faster, more fair and more personal."

Ribbon was named by Fast Company as one of its Most Innovative Companies in Enterprise in 2026 for its use of artificial intelligence agents in job interviews. Dayforce said the business adds specialised recruiting tools already proven in live deployments with employers.

Dayforce sells human capital management software covering HR, pay, time, talent, planning and analytics. Adding Ribbon extends that reach further into the earliest stages of recruitment, where employers are increasingly looking for ways to manage applicant volumes without increasing manual screening work.
