Datadog names Yadi Narayana CTO for Asia-Pacific & Japan

Today

Datadog has appointed Yadi Narayana as Chief Technology Officer for Asia-Pacific and Japan in a newly-created field CTO role.

In his new position, Narayana will draw on more than 20 years of global experience across business development, product development and solutions engineering, focusing on midmarket organisations and enterprises. He will work with sales and engineering teams at Datadog to identify opportunities and provide guidance on best practices for customer use of observability solutions related to cloud migration, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence projects.

Narayana brings previous experience leading Datadog's post-sales business in the Asia-Pacific and Japan region for more than three years. During his career, he has also held senior roles at LaunchDarkly and AppDynamics, and has worked with telecommunications service providers in Asia and Europe.

Commenting on his appointment, Narayana said, "It's not easy for large companies to modernise, particularly those in highly regulated industries where there's so much legacy and technology debt. I've spent the last 12 years focused on observability strategy, architecture and sales, and Datadog stands out as the best product in the market. It's organic, seamless under the hood, and unified, allowing it to solve the vast breadth and depth of company challenges in ways that a pointed approach simply can't. This gives me the opportunity to take an 'outside-in' approach to delivering the right solutions to our customers."

Narayana is based in Sydney and reports to Eugene Kovnatsky, Vice President of Product Solutions Architecture and Field CTO Teams at Datadog.

Kovnatsky highlighted Narayana's credentials, stating, "Yadi has extensive experience in observability at large as well as deep understanding of Datadog and our platform. His technology and advisory leadership will be pivotal in delivering value, enhancing performance, and driving growth for our customers in APJ."

The creation of this role comes as Datadog continues to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific and Japan region. The company recently announced a new data centre instance to be opened in Sydney, Australia. This move is part of a broader recruitment drive in the region, with Datadog adding new roles in technical, sales and marketing fields across Australia/New Zealand, ASEAN, India, Japan and Korea.

The expansion reflects growing demand for monitoring and security capabilities in the region, driven by projects in areas such as cloud adoption, generative AI and cybersecurity across both public and private sector organisations.

Rob Thorne, Vice President for Asia-Pacific and Japan at Datadog, said, "We are seeing demand for strategic thought leadership from our customers. Adding Yadi's deep expertise in observability and security to our team is paramount to helping those organisations navigate complex challenges and tackle new opportunities."
