Datadobi unveils StorageMAP 7.2 with advanced insights

Yesterday

Datadobi has announced the release of StorageMAP 7.2, expanding the capabilities of its unstructured data management software platform.

The updated version of StorageMAP introduces advanced metadata insights and improved data reporting features. Aimed at Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) leaders, StorageMAP 7.2 is designed to optimise data value, manage costs, mitigate risks, and enhance storage utilisation, aligning data strategies with evolving business and regulatory demands.

Unstructured data is reportedly growing between 30% and 50% annually, presenting challenges in cost management, security, and governance. In response, StorageMAP 7.2 seeks to assist I&O leaders in making more informed data-driven decisions. A related Gartner report suggests a shift towards hybrid cloud storage strategies, predicting that more than 70% of I&O leaders will adopt these by 2028, compared to just 30% in a previous year.

StorageMAP 7.2's new features include enhanced metadata query capabilities, allowing organisations to monitor cost, carbon emissions, and StorageMAP tags with increased precision.

Additionally, its automated discovery feature for Dell ECS and NetApp StorageGRID object stores helps enterprises manage large-scale object storage environments by instantly identifying tenants and associated S3 buckets.

The platform's existing functionality for reporting orphaned data over the SMB protocol now extends to NFS environments, enabling businesses to detect and report on orphaned data for both SMB and NFS protocols. This added capability allows for swift identification of data not currently owned by active employees, improving data governance.

StorageMAP 7.2 introduces an enhanced licensing model providing organisations the flexibility to scale their use of the platform's features according to their specific needs. This flexibility is intended to accommodate diverse organisational requirements.

The software platform also aims to optimise data storage by freeing up primary storage capacity and improving AI data workflows.

New archiving capabilities allow organisations to identify and shift old or inactive data to archive storage, maintaining the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of high-value primary storage. It also enhances AI readiness by identifying and classifying data suitable for GenAI processing, useful for populating data lakes with high-quality datasets.

Michael Jack, Datadobi's Chief Revenue Officer, stated, "Unstructured data continues to grow at an unprecedented pace, yet many I&O leaders still struggle to gain appropriate levels of visibility and control over their environments.

StorageMAP 7.2 delivers game-changing capabilities, giving organisations the insights and automation they need to optimize storage, improve security, and drive smarter business decisions."
