Mon, 10th Jun 2024

Computex 2024 has concluded successfully, with this year's event seeing a significant increase in scale. The four-day exhibition attracted 85,179 ICT buyers and professionals from across the globe. The top ten countries and regions represented at the event included Japan, the United States, South Korea, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam, India, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

Under the theme of "Connecting AI," Computex 2024 managed to draw world-class buyers to Taiwan, establishing the country as a focal point of global technological attention. The exhibition featured cutting-edge technological innovations from various exhibitors. According to IDC, AI PCs are predicted to make up nearly 60% of global PC shipments by 2027. Among the showcased innovations, Acer and ASUS introduced their Copilot+ PCs, the Swift 14 AI laptop, and Vivobook S 15, respectively, highlighting AI's transformative impact on the PC industry.

Smart technology applications are expanding across different fields, with this year's exhibition including a newly introduced smart mobility area. The Taiwan Advanced Automotive Technology Development Association (TADA) brought major manufacturers such as Pegatron Corporation, Clientron, and Retronix Technology together to set up an automotive technology pavilion, which featured integrated smart cockpit solutions.

In the advanced communications and network products section, Taiwan's critical role in pioneering communications was prominently featured. ASUS and ASKEY collaborated on 5G enterprise private network solutions via Microsoft Azure's dedicated 5G core. Pride demonstrated the industry's first cross-protocol energy smart management system, the "AIoT Application Management Platform (NMS-AIoT)."

The rapidly developing metaverse was also a key area of focus. Ganzin Technology presented wearable eye-tracking technology for augmented reality devices, enhancing the immersive experience. Silicon Valley startup Aemass showcased a portable single-lens 3D recording system along with patented 3D cloud imaging and AI algorithm technologies, offering innovative solutions for the extended reality (XR) sector.

Technology giants converged at Computex 2024, leading to dynamic interactions across the event's venues. Dr Lisa Su, Chairman and CEO of AMD, inaugurated the event with a keynote speech hosted by TAITRA. Other prominent speakers in the lineup included Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, MediaTek Vice Chairman and CEO Rick Tsai, Supermicro President and CEO Charles Liang, NXP Semiconductors Executive VP and CTO Lars Reger, and Delta Research Center President Dr Tzi-cker Chiueh. These industry leaders discussed leveraging key technologies to boost various industries and shape the future of AI, along with inviting industry partners to share their insights on technological advancements.

The Computex forums, especially the Computex Forum, brought together global technology leaders to outline the future of AI. Themed "Let's Talk Generative AI," this year's forum featured nine experts who offered in-depth analyses of the AI supply chain, providing valuable insights into emerging business opportunities. The interaction between global technology leaders and ecosystem partners fostered collaborations that are expected to drive technological progress and innovative applications.

InnoVEX, the dedicated startup exhibition area, saw participation from the highest number of countries to date. Alongside new startups and teams, the event included seven national pavilions and key acceleration and incubation units. Startups demonstrated immense creativity, applying AI technology to fields such as healthcare, manufacturing, sports, pets, and tourism. For instance, Pade Technology developed an intelligent sorting system using near-infrared spectroscopy and AI, while DeepRad.AI utilised AI to innovate in medical imaging. ASPN Sports Tech Accelerator, in conjunction with Garage+, showcased AI applications in sports technology and data processing.

The competitive InnoVEX startup competition awarded first prize to Taiwan Polymer Material Company for its "R-ESG-Rubber," which converts waste tyres into high-value recycled rubber materials, addressing industry needs for sustainable solutions.

In a bid to promote green transformation, Computex introduced the Sustainable Design Award for the first time. BenQ Qisda Group secured the gold award, with ASUS and Acer tying for the silver. Transcend Information and Wiwynn Corporation received special jury awards. Exhibitors incorporated the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) concept into their booth designs, aligning with sustainability goals.
