Cloudera expands leadership team to drive enterprise AI development
Sun, 5th Nov 2023

Cloudera has beefed up its executive leadership team with the introduction of three new top-tier officers. Mary Wells is stepping in as Chief Marketing Officer, Dipto Chakravarty is due to lead as the Chief Product Officer, and Dilip Upmanyu is taking on the role of the Chief Financial Officer. The strategic appointments come as part of an effort to drive Cloudera into a new stage of development, facilitate essential digital transformation and gear its Fortune 1000 clientele towards embracing AI.

Commenting on the transition, Charles Sansbury, who assumed his role as the CEO in August, expressed excitement over the enthusiasm and expertise the new department chiefs will bring to the table. "I'm delighted Mary, Dipto, and Dilip have joined the Cloudera team at a time of such unprecedented evolution in the market and as we embark on our most consequential chapter yet," Sansbury remarked. "Their smarts, bold ideas, and decades of technology leadership will bring a welcomed perspective to our executive group. Their experience will help us maintain true north as we drive new growth, pioneer groundbreaking products, and nurture innovative partnerships that empower global enterprises to exploit their most prized asset."

Mary Wells, formerly with ASG Technologies where she held the role of Chief Marketing Officer, boasts over 25 years of experience in leadership roles at Axeda Corporation, Kalido, and BEA Systems among others. Wells is set to helm all global marketing strategies, campaigns, and initiatives for Cloudera. These operations include the management of Cloudera's recently introduced brand campaign focused on enterprise AI, dubbed 'Trust Your Data'.

Dipto Chakravarty, with the impressive portfolio of generative AI, data and cloud security, brings over three decades of experience from the likes of Amazon where he directed local data engineering and AWS cloud practice. In his new role at Cloudera, Chakravarty will be at the forefront of global product strategy, creation, and development.

ASG Technologies' prior CFO, Dilip Upmanyu, joins Cloudera with 25 years of experience from Attachmate Group, NetIQ, and IBM. In his pivotal role as the Chief Financial Officer, Upmanyu is charged with the task of steering the company's financial undertakings and probing into fresh growth opportunities and strategic investments to optimise revenue.

These recent entrants to Cloudera’s refreshed executive team will also have the opportunity to join CEO Sansbury at the 'Evolve New York' event. This forms part of the company’s global 'Evolve 2023' programme to engage partners, customers, and data professionals in a dialogue about delivering trusted AI and contemporary data strategy.

Firmly establishing its mantra that 'data can make what is impossible today, possible tomorrow', Cloudera empowers organisations to transform data into trusted enterprise AI. Their holistic open data lakehouse provides secure data management and portable cloud-native data analytics, with the aspiration of reducing costs and risks, increasing productivity, and advancing business performance.
