Boomi launches SAP CDC tool to simplify real-time data access

Thu, 9th Oct 2025

Boomi has announced the release of its SAP Change Data Capture (CDC) capability, which allows enterprises to access and integrate data from SAP systems in real time without the need for custom coding.

The new CDC offering is now available globally and is designed for seamless data extraction from SAP ECC, S/4HANA, and SAP Business Warehouse (BW). Enterprises can transfer this data into any cloud data lake or warehouse, aiming to improve the speed and effectiveness of business intelligence and artificial intelligence projects.

According to Boomi, this launch is intended to help organisations access their SAP data more easily to support modern analytics and AI initiatives. With a significant proportion of major global companies relying on SAP for their operations, the ability to ingest data quickly and effectively has been a priority for firms pursuing digital transformation.

Mani Gill, Vice President of Product for Data and AI at Boomi, commented on the significance of the launch, saying:

"This launch is a major milestone for SAP customers looking to modernise their data infrastructure. By combining multi-table ingestion, built-in CDC, and schema-aware transformation, we're unlocking SAP data for real-time decision-making without the need for specialist skills or custom development."

Boomi highlighted that customers will be able to ingest SAP data in minutes, bypassing the traditional requirement for ABAP programming. This approach is intended to simplify data integration projects, reduce the need for specialised resources, and support the combination of SAP and non-SAP data sources in real time.

The company also stressed that its CDC solution differs from proprietary integration tools by offering flexibility and avoiding vendor lock-in. Boomi's approach is to allow customers to send their enterprise data to any preferred cloud data destination, whether that be a data lake or warehouse.

In a statement on the challenges faced by organisations working with SAP environments, Matt Aslett, Director of Research, Data and Analytics at ISG, said:

"Reliably extracting data from critical enterprise applications such as SAP to serve operational and analytical workloads has always been a technical challenge. Products that reduce the complexity of accessing and acting on data are becoming foundational to improving business agility and supporting AI and analytics strategies at scale."

The SAP CDC capability includes several technical features aimed at enterprise users. Built-in Change Data Capture monitors changes in SAP ECC, S/4HANA, and BW in near real time. Multi-table ingestion supports scalable integration across tables, CDS views, and extractors. Schema-aware transformation automatically converts raw SAP tabular data into JSON format, facilitating reliable and efficient data transfers. Additional enterprise-level features, such as deduplication, stream checkpointing, and audit logging, are also included. Boomi states that its SAP-native application-layer integration connects directly with SAP business logic, eliminating the need for direct database access.

Boomi asserts that these capabilities allow organisations to respond more quickly to developments in their business environment by giving them real-time access to operational data. The platform is also designed to reduce costs and simplify ongoing maintenance by eliminating the custom development that has historically been required for SAP data integration projects.

SAP states that 84% of total global commerce involves businesses running on its systems, and 98 out of the 100 largest companies worldwide are SAP customers. This context underscores the relevance of tools that accelerate and simplify integration for these enterprises as they seek to adopt AI and advanced analytics.

The introduction of Boomi's SAP CDC capability is positioned as a response to the evolving requirements of organisations seeking to build scalable, cloud-based, and AI-oriented IT architectures. The company describes its approach as providing flexibility, reducing technical barriers, and supporting a wide variety of analytic and operational workloads across SAP and non-SAP environments.
