Autostore's warehouse automation revolutionises CJ Logistics in Korea
AutoStore, the leading technology firm specialising in automated warehouse solutions, is transforming the e-commerce sector with its advanced automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS), which it recently integrated at CJ Logistics in Korea.
The Norway-based company has executed one of the world's fastest AS/RS technologies, significantly enhancing the efficiency and precision of CJ Logistics' Warehousing and logistics operations. The deployment of this system is designed to revolutionise CJ Logistics' capabilities, bolstering their service reliability for customers in Korea and across East Asia.
At CJ Logistics' Incheon Global Distribution Center (GDC), AutoStore has installed a cube-based modular storage and retrieval system. This sophisticated set-up involves 140 robots operating around the clock to ensure rapid and accurate order fulfilment to customers across Asia and four Pacific regions. The integration of the AutoStore system, which actually began in 2023, has been integral to the radical improvement in efficiency at the GDC.
Integral to the ongoing effectiveness of operations at the Incheon GDC is AutoStore's Router software. The software meticulously tracks every movement of every robot, every second of every day. This ensures the fastest route is always taken, optimising travel efficiency and increasing the number of bins presented at each workstation. It also helps to significantly minimise the travel distance of each robot, thus reducing potential maintenance time and costs.
In addition, CJ Logistics has incorporated five units of CarouselPort and 13 units of RelayPort into its Incheon-based operations. These RelayPorts, known to be AutoStore's fastest workstations, are capable of handling up to 650 bins per hour. This seamless integration of AutoStore's advanced technology ensures an exponential improvement in the speed and efficiency of CJ Logistics' order fulfilment process.
Mr. Cheoljoo Yoon, an executive at CJ Logistics, praised the collaboration, stating, "The combination of our unique operational capabilities and AutoStore's technology has enabled us to reliably execute complex logistics processes. We will continue to enhance our cooperation with AutoStore to respond quickly to changing e-commerce trends."
The successful integration of the AutoStore system signals a key achievement for CJ Logistics, confirming its robust position in the competitive cross-border e-commerce market. Above all, this shows the firm's commitment to delivering bespoke solutions, thus meeting its customers' evolving demands.
Dong-Yen Lucas Kim, Business Development Director for South Korea at AutoStore, said: "The collaboration with CJ Logistics marks an important step for AutoStore. The partnership signifies a positive stride in our ongoing growth within the APAC region, and we are very happy to continue our work together".
