Anechoic chamber market expected to be US$6.64 billion by 2033: FMI

Fri, 26th May 2023
FYI, this story is more than a year old

The anechoic chamber market is expected to expand its roots at a robust CAGR of 16.2% between 2023-33. As a result, the market is likely to hold a revenue of US$ 1.4 billion in 2023, while it is anticipated to surpass US$6.64 billion by 2033. These insights are based on a report on the anechoic chamber market by Future Market Insights (FMI).

One of the key reasons contributing to the market expansion is the growing need for testing electronics. The prevalence of strict government rules and regulations about electromagnetic interference (EMI) across the electronics sector. Moreover, the increasing usage of industry-specific customised anechoic chambers is projected to be another salient factor driving the market. In addition, surging demand for anechoic chambers for electromagnetic compatibility pre-compliance testing and increased application of industry-specific customised anechoic chambers are other salient causes boosting the market growth in the forecast period.

Besides, players are focusing on developing the chamber. For instance, these chambers were previously exclusively referred to as acoustic anechoic chambers. Presently, it also comprises RF anechoic chambers. Moreover, the radio-frequency chamber eradicates the issue of external noise and reflection caused by electromagnetic waves. Such developments are likely to contribute to the overall growth of the market.

Chamber, developed by Microsoft in 2015, has been recognised as the world's quietest place in the Guinness World Record. The development of the chamber is beneficial for products like Xbox gaming, HoloLens VR goggles, and the Surface line of tablets. It is also advantageous for software where the audio component plays a salient role, such as Skype and Cortana Virtual Assistant. Therefore, continuous information and communication technology development is expected to augment the market considerably.

The emergence of 5G technology and the growth of hybrid and electric vehicles have been projected as the upcoming trend in the market during the forecast period. The deployment of 5G technology may introduce new devices that can adapt to the 5G technology. Testing the 5G transmission antennas through EMC/RF/ EMI testing aids in assuring that the antennas are functioning efficiently.

Also, the growth in applications in robotic testing is expected to generate ample opportunities for market expansion. Moreover, testing opportunities in 2D electronics and molecular electronics are projected to be another lucrative trend for market expansion.

Rising errors while testing and high expenses involved in electromagnetic compatibility testing are projected to negatively impact the market in the forecast period. In addition, prolonged lead time for overseas qualification assessment is another factor expected to impede the market expansion in the forecast period. Besides, the observed device's flammability is expected to act as a significant challenge to market expansion in the coming time.

As per the analysis, North America is projected to acquire the lion's share of the market during the forecast period. The forefront position of the market can be attributed to the presence of a well-established IT sector and the increasing efforts to commercialise 5G technology in the region.

The United States is projected to contribute most significantly to developing the market.

The analysis reveals that the United States market size could value at US$700 million while expanding at a CAGR of 4.1% during the forecast period from 2022 to 2032. Also, the country is ahead of other nations in deploying 5G. In July 2016, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) initiated the formulation of 5G technology rules, making the United States the first nation to open a high-band spectrum for the technology. Thus, rapid technological development in the country is one of the vital factors contributing to the expansion of the market in the region.

Europe is projected to secure significant market value during the forecast period. The region's growth can be attributed to the growing initiatives to implement 5G services across the region.

The United Kingdom is projected to contribute the maximum to develop the market in the forecast period. As per the analysis, the United Kingdom is expected to garner US$81.7 million, exhibiting a 3.5% CAGR during the forecast period. The region's players focus on expanding their reach and strengthening the 5G ecosystem in the country. For instance, in March 2022, Ericsson and Vodafone accomplished the United Kingdom's first on-demand 5G network slice.

Asia Pacific has been recognised as a lucrative market during the forecast period. Growing demand for advanced gadgets and modern medical innovations are the key factors propelling the market in the region. Besides, rapidly evolving countries such as China, South Korea, and Japan are projected to act as a remunerative asset to the region.

As per the analysis, China is projected at US$136.8 million, Japan at US$123.1 million, and South Korea at US$78 million during the assessment period. Moreover, several aerospace companies are making considerable investments in their production in APAC due to the presence of cheap labour services and the convenient foreign investment process. Therefore, according to estimations, China, Japan, and South Korea are likely to grow by 3.9%, 3.7%, and 3.5%, respectively.

Key players in the global anechoic chamber market include Esco Technologies, TDK Corporation, Microwave Vision Group, Franconia Group, and Eckel Industries.

In 2020, Mphasis, an IT solution provider specialising in cloud and cognitive services, announced the opening of a state-of-the-art hi-tech wireless chamber in Bangalore, India. The chamber has radio frequency shielding for IoT, Wi-Fi, and 5G. Allowing Mphasis to deliver advanced testing and certification services for these technologies.

In January 2022, Audio-Technica Fukui, a Japanese company, disclosed its electromagnetic anechoic chambers. At high precision, it measures the radio waves emitted by devices like wireless earphones and microphones. So that the company could be sure about its compliance with each country's different radio emission standards

Eckel Industries has introduced its Full and Hem-Anechoic Chambers, the new portable anechoic chambers, and the Supersoft test chambers.
