Alpaca partners Gate for US stocks & tokenised shares
Fri, 14th Aug 2026 (Today)
Alpaca has partnered with Gate to support Gate's launch of US stocks, exchange-traded funds, IPO access and tokenised stocks, extending its offering beyond cryptocurrencies into a broader range of assets.
Under the arrangement, Gate users can access more than 10,000 US-listed stocks and ETFs through Gate Stocks and request IPO allocations for eligible US listings. Alpaca provides the brokerage infrastructure behind those products, including the core functions needed to operate them.
Gate's broader expansion also includes gStocks, its tokenised US stock product. Alpaca's systems support the custody and settlement of the underlying shares linked to those instruments.
The partnership brings together two groups seeking to bridge digital-asset trading and traditional investing products. Gate, which says it serves more than 58 million users, built its name in cryptocurrency trading and is now broadening its range to include assets more commonly associated with mainstream brokerage platforms.
For Alpaca, the deal adds another large distribution partner for its brokerage technology. It supports more than 10 million brokerage accounts across hundreds of fintechs and institutions in more than 40 countries.
Multi-asset push
The launch marks another step in Gate's effort to reposition itself as a broader financial services platform. Alongside digital-asset trading, its activities now span wealth management, payments, Web3, artificial intelligence and traditional financial markets.
That strategy reflects a wider trend among crypto platforms seeking new revenue streams and a broader customer base as digital-asset markets mature. Offering access to listed equities, ETFs, and IPOs allows them to keep users within a single app or platform rather than sending them to separate brokers for traditional investments.
Tokenised stocks have also drawn renewed interest as platforms explore ways to combine blockchain-based trading with conventional securities exposure. In this model, users gain access to a digital representation tied to an underlying listed share, while the asset itself still requires custody and settlement through established financial infrastructure.
Yoshi Yokokawa, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Alpaca, described the tie-up as part of that broader push.
"We built Alpaca's brokerage infrastructure to help innovative financial platforms expand access to global markets at scale," said Yoshi Yokokawa, Co-founder and CEO of Alpaca. "Gate brings a large, digitally native user base and a clear vision for multi-asset investing. This launch demonstrates how our infrastructure can help global platforms connect digital and traditional markets and broaden investment access for their users."
Broader strategy
Gate framed the partnership as a way to widen access to US markets while keeping different asset classes under one umbrella. It has been building out a broader product set beyond its original focus on crypto trading.
Dr Han, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Gate, said the integration fits that plan. "We believe the future of investing lies in connecting digital assets and traditional finance," said Dr Han, Founder and CEO of Gate. "Alpaca's infrastructure helps us broaden access to US markets, bring multiple asset classes together within the Gate ecosystem, and give our customers a more seamless way to manage their investments."
The announcement also points to shared interest in the intersection of artificial intelligence and trading systems. Both companies see scope for AI-led tools to play a larger role in market analysis, asset management and trading decisions for retail investors, professional traders and developers.
That area remains early stage, but it has become a growing point of overlap between fintech groups and crypto exchanges. Many are assessing whether AI tools can improve user engagement, automate parts of investment research and support more personalised trading workflows.
Alpaca is based in the US and operates as a self-clearing broker-dealer. It has raised USD $400 million and focuses on providing brokerage infrastructure for access to both traditional and on-chain asset classes.
Gate was founded in 2013 and says it supports trading in more than 4,900 crypto assets and over 12,500 stock assets, as well as exposure to metals, indices, foreign exchange, and commodities. With the addition of US equities, ETFs, IPO allocations and tokenised stocks, the company is pushing further into the multi-asset model that has become a central ambition for many digital finance platforms.
