Aeris has launched a new version of its eSIM Orchestrator for the IoT Accelerator platform, adding support for the GSMA SGP.32 standard for remote management of IoT eSIMs.

The launch also includes Single SKU eSIM and Aeris eIM as a Service, expanding the tools available to Mobile Network Operators, device makers and enterprise customers managing connected devices across multiple markets.

Aeris said its IoT Accelerator platform now manages 110 million IoT devices, including 44 million eSIMs. According to the company, eSIMs now make up more than 40 per cent of its installed base, compared with 12 per cent across the wider market.

The update also broadens support beyond SGP.32 to environments that already use the GSMA's SGP.02 machine-to-machine eSIM standard and the SGP.22 consumer eSIM standard. A single connection to IoT Accelerator gives customers access to 30 operators with pre-integrated support across all three generations of eSIM standards, Aeris said.

Profile management

The new eSIM Orchestrator is designed to automate profile management through policies and event-based controls, rather than requiring operators to manage devices one by one. Customers can use those controls to determine which local profile a device uses, when it downloads that profile, what the device is allowed to do and what happens if a process fails, according to Aeris.

Single SKU eSIM is aimed at companies shipping devices internationally. Aeris said the model allows Original Equipment Manufacturers to build one hardware version for global distribution, while enterprises can assign the appropriate local operator profile after deployment instead of creating separate market-specific variants.

Aeris is also offering a managed remote eSIM service through eIM as a Service, integrated into IoT Accelerator for SGP.32 profile switching. Customers can also use their own eIM supplier, with Aeris naming Thales, G+D, Kigen and IDEMIA among supported vendors.

Jon Connet, Chief Product Officer at Aeris, linked the changes to broader shifts in connected systems. "The future of IoT is increasingly tied to the rise of Physical AI, as connected vehicles, machines and infrastructure become more intelligent and autonomous," he said. "That evolution demands connectivity that can adapt as devices move across markets and networks and requirements change. Our new IoT eSIM capabilities build on Aeris' proven IoT platform leadership to make that possible at global scale."

Aeris is targeting sectors where devices must operate across borders and networks without manual intervention, including autonomous vehicles, industrial robotics and smart infrastructure. In those settings, eSIM management has become more important as companies try to balance roaming arrangements with local network access and regulatory demands.

Operator view

About 70 per cent of device attachments on the platform each month occur on a partner network rather than through roaming, according to Aeris. The company added that devices using its platform attach in more than 200 countries each month and that it serves more than 7,000 enterprise customers.

Orange Business, one of the operator groups working with Aeris, described the move to SGP.32 as more than a technical change. "The transition to IoT eSIM based on SGP.32 is not simply a technical upgrade; it's a strategic enabler for enterprises managing connected devices across markets. Our collaboration with Aeris sets a strong benchmark for how operators and platform partners can deliver global eSIM orchestration in a way that's practical, standards-compliant and built for the realities of global IoT," said Elisabeth Reille, Executive Vice President - Smart Mobility Services at Orange Business.

In a second statement, Connet focused on the operational challenge of deploying eSIM at scale. "For OEMs, MNOs and enterprises, the challenge isn't changing a SIM profile on one device; it's doing it reliably across thousands or millions of devices," he said. "SGP.32 provides the foundation, but orchestration makes it work at global scale. Aeris enables customers to use the same IoT connectivity service across networks with local SIM profiles, combining the flexibility of roaming with the advantages of local connectivity."

The product update also comes amid broader competition over how IoT providers manage connectivity as embedded SIM usage grows. Aeris said its platform is growing at more than 20 per cent year on year, faster than the market overall. It also cited industry recognition from Frost & Sullivan and Counterpoint Research as evidence of its position in the sector.

Aeris added that its IoT Watchtower service can provide network-level security as an optional layer alongside connectivity management. The combined offering is intended to give customers control over connectivity policies, profile switching and security as fleets of devices move across countries and network environments.

Aeris serves sectors including connected vehicles, robotics, utilities, logistics, medical devices and manufacturing, and said it connects more than 115 million devices worldwide, including 45 million connected vehicles.
