FYI, this story is more than a year old

Advent One, a Melbourne-based hybrid cloud, automation, security, and infrastructure consultancy, has acquired Layer 8 Networks.

The acquisition comes at a time of surging demand in hybrid cloud, network virtualisation and network security.

Layer 8 Networks, founded by Ben Brockliss and Matthew Pook, commenced in 2017 with a focus on providing unified communications, networking, and network security services. With a strong engineering and customer service focus, Layer 8 Networks achieved CRN Fast 50 recognitions in both 2020 and 2021.

Layer 8 Networks speciality has been in supporting enterprises to consolidate and secure their networking environments, while helping customers move to software defined networking. With partnerships including Cisco, VMWare and Aruba, Layer 8 Networks commercial success has been driven by the ability to virtualise network infrastructure, paving the way for fast adoption into hybrid cloud and IoT connectivity.

Layer 8 Networks had partnered often with Advent One on multiple enterprise sized engagements, providing networking support to the infrastructure and cloud teams at Advent One.

Advent One chief executive officer, Jon Ossip, says the Layer 8 Networks acquisition enhances Advent Ones ability to fulfil all technology needs of their customers.

"Our vision is to be a leader of hybrid cloud provisioning which includes having expertise across infrastructure, automation, cloud architecture and network security," he says.

"Network architecture and a resilient network security infrastructure is the backbone of high-performing hybrid cloud environments. As technology changes, and the cybersecurity threat surface expands, organisations will become increasingly reliant on their hybrid cloud environments to enable them to scale in a safe and secure way," he says.

"As the backbone, the network and its security then become a critical area of importance and innovation."

Layer 8 Networks is built on engineering expertise and customer responsiveness and can attribute its success to word-of-mouth commercial growth. With joining Advent One, the Layer 8 Networks team will benefit from sales and marketing support, as well as access to the growing and established Advent One customer portfolio.

"We started Layer 8 Networks with a focus on what were good at network security," says Ben Brockliss, director at Layer 8 Networks.

"Joining Advent One gives us better coverage across cloud, infrastructure, and hybrid cloud services without having to pivot our commercial direction.

"Over the years we have developed several joint customers with Advent One, and we have complemented each other well. Our cultural values align, and we both have a strong ethos of delivering quality work in good time. Our potential together is very exciting."

Aligning cultural values and marrying customer centric delivery is a key focus of the Layer 8 Networks acquisition, according to Ossip.

"The esteem in which the Layer 8 Networks team are held, and how highly regarded they are by the quality of their delivery and networking expertise, is very respected by us here at Advent One," he says.

"Our focus on team culture, great people and delivering robust solutions to solve customer problems means we have a strong cultural alignment with the Layer 8 Networks team, and were excited to deliver great quality work that we can hang our reputation on."
