ADLINK unveils SP2-MTL Panel PC to boost industrial edge AI

Sat, 30th Aug 2025

ADLINK has released the SP2-MTL Panel PC to support edge AI activities across industrial environments.

The SP2-MTL series is equipped with Intel Core Ultra H Series (Meteor Lake) processors, which come with an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for efficient onsite AI inference. For industrial applications requiring more advanced graphical processing, the series offers options for NVIDIA MXM Type-A or PCI Express Graphics Card expansion. This approach aims to provide scalable acceleration for workloads such as machine vision, automated optical inspection, automated dispensing systems, pharmacy carousels, and smart kiosks.

The company stated that the SP2-MTL series continues the features of earlier smart panel models, including modular input/output (I/O) expansion, reserved signal interfaces, and flexibility in mechanical design. The panel's open-frame architecture is intended to facilitate smooth integration into custom enclosures, industrial equipment, and public-facing terminals. This design is positioned to reduce system integrators' design effort and accelerate deployment times.

Industrial display requirements are met using AUO industrial-grade panels. ADLINK provides in-house customisation options, including optical bonding, high brightness, anti-glare treatments, UV protection, and additional mechanical enhancements. The panel PC is certified for industrial safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and resistance to shock and vibration, supporting its use in demanding or critical operational environments.

"Powered by the latest Intel CoreTM Ultra H Series (Meteor Lake) processors, the SP2-MTL delivers efficient, high-performance AI inference directly at the edge. To support more advanced workloads, the system offers flexible GPU expansion via NVIDIA MXM Type-A or PCI Express Graphics Cards, enabling scalable acceleration for applications such as machine vision, automated optical inspection (AOI), automated dispensing systems, pharmacy carousels, and smart kiosks."

The SP2-MTL's modular approach is designed to offer broad application versatility, allowing customers to tailor signal and I/O configurations as needed. The architecture permits seamless deployment in both new machine builds and upgrades to existing infrastructure. ADLINK noted that its design and manufacturing capabilities ensure ongoing product supply and quality control for long-term deployments.

According to the company, the open-frame design is suitable for a wide temperature range and built to withstand harsh conditions. By sourcing display panels directly from AUO, ADLINK reports higher reliability and customisation for industrial clients. The in-house engineering team supports adaptations to the panels, such as adjusting display brightness or integrating specific optical enhancements.

The new panel PC is presented as part of ADLINK's collaborative efforts with technology providers, including long-term partnerships with Intel and NVIDIA. This collaboration is intended to supply an ecosystem of products optimised for embedded and edge AI solutions.

"Continuing the legacy of the smart panel series, the SP2-MTL retains key features that system integrators value: modular I/O expansion, reserved signal interfaces, and mechanical flexibility. Its open-frame architecture allows for seamless integration into custom enclosures, equipment, and public-facing terminals, significantly reducing design effort and time-to-market."

ADLINK offers full customisation support as part of its service, which includes mechanical, optical, and functional modifications to accommodate various project requirements. The company's industrial PCs are certified to meet safety and reliability standards applicable to critical industrial operations.

The SP2-MTL is now available for order, supporting industries aiming to increase operational efficiency and automate processes through edge AI applications.
