Owen McCarthy has had a long love affair with all things technical since the dawn of the computer age. A child of the 1960’s, he agrees with legendary author, Douglas Adams, that digital watches were a pretty neat idea. By the 1980’s Owen was learning how to code using C and by the turn of the century, he was teaching HTML to enthusiastic youngsters. These days, Owen can be found pestering editors for new technology to review on an annoyingly regular basis. In his spare time, he rides motorcycles of the three-wheeled variety, studies theology, aqua-jogs, and works hard to honour his late wife’s request to live a joy-filled life.

Hands-on review: Technics AZ60 Noise Cancelling and True Wireless Earbuds
Listening to music is quite an experience. The bass and treble sounds are distinct and makes listening to music a real pleasure.
Hands-on review: Nanoleaf Essentials Light Bulbs
There is a veritable panoply of colour schemes and I found one that matched my editor’s mood when I’ve made too many typos.
Hands-on review: JBL Free WFH wireless headphones
Whether it’s a whiny husband, a clingy dog or a sick offspring, you will be happy to get some enforced peace and quiet, courtesy of JBL’s Free WFH Wireless headphones.
Hands-on review: JBL Flip 6 portable speaker
Once you switch it on, and listen away for up to 12 hours, you will quickly realise that this is a little speaker looking for a party.
Hands-on review: Arlo Go 2 security camera
In my humble opinion, Arlo Go 2 offers security for anyone needing to keep a remote eye on prized possessions or premises at different locations.
Hands-on review: James Donkey RS4 Knight Wireless Gaming Keyboard
I have always liked mechanical keyboards, and this is no exception. I find the action much easier to use than the modern keyboards with limited travel.
Hands-on review: Norton Secure VPN
Norton is obviously serious about your privacy. They have a “No-log” policy, which simply means that they do not track or store any of your on-line activities.
Hands-on review: HP Evo Spectre X360 Flip Ultrabook 13.5” laptop
The Spectre comes with a keyboard that makes working for long hours something to be looked forward to. It has to be one of the best keyboards I have seen on a 13.5” laptop.
Hands-on review: Samsung S22 Ultra
I have been impressed by the functions Samsung packed into this phone. I did actually make one phone call on this phone, in between trying out as many of its other uses that I could pack in.
Hands-on review: Morphée
Life in the twenty-first century has become a 24-hour affair. Morphée promises to help restore some balance to your life.
Hands-on review: Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition
In almost every respect it works like a book, apart from the fact that it weighs next to nothing, fits in my hand perfectly, and is soothing on my eyes.
Hands-on review: JBL Partybox 110 Bluetooth speaker
My first review in a long time is sure to create a lot of noise, if the experience in my household has been anything to go by.

Hands-on review: Twelve South StayGo Mini USB Hub
I don't believe that right on the cusp of Christmas, Twelve South swung into my ken. This mini USB hub has become part of my solution to a problem faced by many.
Hands-on review: JBL LivePro+ TWS
I have become more of a fan of earbuds since discovering my ears no longer have to ache, and they don’t have to continually fall out. JBL will be pleased to hear that no amount of head gyrating has managed to dislodge either bud.
Hands-on review: Satechi Trio Wireless Charger & Satechi Slim X3 Bluetooth Backlit Keyboard
Being a naturally curious individual, I was interested to see what customers had to say about Satechi’s products. This is my first foray into the world of the multiple device charger, and to start with I’ll admit to being slightly confused, quoting Manuel from Fawlty Towers with a confused, “¿Que?”
Hands-on review: Ecovacs Deebot N8 Pro
Ecovacs’ Deebot N8 Pro has wormed its way into my affections. I was initially unaware of a transformation gradually occurring, but by the end of the review, my heart had been won over.

JBL’s Live660NC headset provide you with peace and quiet in your own space.
Hands-on review: Nokia X20
Unless you are a device snob, you will be more than happy to own a device that won’t cost the price of a high-spec laptop but will provide you with reliable and future-proofed usage.
Hands-on review: Swann SecureAlert 4 Camera 4 Channel 4K Ultra HD Wi-Fi Security System
This product promises to encourage any prospective miscreant to hunt elsewhere for an easier target.
Dyson Purifier Hot + Cool Formaldehyde
A few years ago, Dyson products began to change my life for the better. Constantly reaching for Kleenex and inhalers are now memories.
