Veeam partners with Microsoft to enhance AI data resilience

Today

Veeam has announced an expanded partnership with Microsoft to develop AI-powered solutions.

According to the company, the new partnership with the tech giant is aimed at enhancing data resilience for Veeam customers.

As part of this expanded collaboration, Microsoft has made an equity investment in Veeam, which will integrate Microsoft AI services into several of Veeam's offerings. This move is expected to provide faster insights, smarter threat detection, and more automated data recovery for Veeam's clientele, which includes 77% of the Fortune 500 and 67% of the Global 2000 companies.

Veeam Chief Executive Officer Anand Eswaran highlighted the critical nature of data resilience in the ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats. "In a world where cyber threats and the dynamic nature of the cloud are constant, data resilience is no longer optional—it's mission-critical," he stated.

"By joining forces with Microsoft, we're bringing AI-powered intelligence to 550,000 customers, and the majority of Fortune 500 and Global 2000 companies, enabling them to protect, detect, and recover faster than ever before," he said.

The integration will focus on Microsoft's AI services, including machine learning capabilities, and applies to several of Veeam's prime services such as Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 and Veeam Data Cloud Vault. A new suite of solutions under the Entra ID banner will also be developed to enhance identity security and data resilience.

Jason Graefe, Corporate Vice President for ISVs and Digital Natives at Microsoft, commented on the transformative role of AI in business. "AI is transforming every aspect of business," he said. "By integrating Microsoft AI with Veeam's market-leading data resilience solutions, we're helping customers not only protect their critical data but also unlock new insights and efficiencies across Microsoft 365 and Azure."

Veeam has positioned its Data Cloud services as built on Microsoft's Azure platform, emphasising cloud-native design and a user-friendly experience. These services offer backup solutions for Microsoft 365 and Azure, embodying principles of Zero Trust and employing Azure Blob Storage to ensure data protection in isolated production environments.

The company says that the collaboration aims to enhance AI-driven innovations that allow organisations to detect threats more swiftly, pinpoint backup vulnerabilities, streamline compliance and recovery reporting, and facilitate quicker data recovery processes.

Veeam assures that its Data Cloud, with its default integration and policy-driven simplicity, provides industry-leading data resilience. Additionally, it ensures cost-effectiveness and predictability, incorporating backup software, infrastructure, and storage into a comprehensive service that simplifies user management.
