Tech job moves - Check Point, DXC, Forter, Ivanti & NTT

We round up all job appointments from April 18-28, 2022, in one place to keep you updated with the latest from across the tech industries.

Check Point

Les Williamson has joined the business as managing director for Australia and New Zealand.

With over three decades of IT and leadership experience, Williamson will be responsible for driving new business and revenue expansion for Check Point in the Australia and New Zealand market. As a key member of the Asia Pacific leadership, Williamson will continue to manage a high performing and diverse sales team and implement local strategies to drive further growth in an increasingly virtual world with expanded cyber security threats.

"We're incredibly excited to have Les, an industry veteran, leading the Australian and New Zealand business. Our strategic direction is built around delivering the best security solutions to partners and customers and Les's industry experience and expert leadership will enable the development of ANZ companies' security strategy required for their own digital transformation," Check Point Asia Pacific and Japan vice president and general manager Sharat Sinha says.

"By leveraging Check Point's extensive security portfolio to provide this consolidated approach to prevention-first security, I'm confident that Les will bring a significant contribution to the development of our clients' security and digital strategies, and protect their business for continued growth," Sinha adds.

Check Point' Intelligence reports show a complex reality, with Australian and New Zealand organisations experiencing an average 890 cyberattacks per week in the last six months," Williamson says.

The announcement follows the recent promotion of Rod Thorne as Australia country manager and executive appointments with Mark Baker as New Zealand country manager, Leo Lynch as head of channels ANZ, and John Marshall as head of distribution ANZ bolstering Check Point's leadership team.


Cloudian announced several new regional appointments, including Evan Duryea as channel director for Australia and New Zealand, ASEAN and Oceania, as the company steps up its regional expansion.

Based in Melbourne, Duryea brings more than 20 years of experience to the role.

"I've known the regional Cloudian team a long time and have been following their success in driving Cloudian and its partner presence in the region," Duryea says.

"Cloudian doesn't just lead in its own right; it's fast become an integral part of other major technology solutions through its alliance partnership network. That provides huge value to the channel as it fits into the bigger picture of what they're looking to position and sell to customers.

"I've sat on the other side of the channel table for decades, and I've seen the good and bad of how vendors approach and work with the channel. Partner experience is too often missing from vendor channel managers' CVs, and I'm looking forward to leveraging it for my role and expanding Cloudian's channel presence and depth across the region."

The data management company has also appointed Sydney-based Anna Christensen as ANZ and ASEAN head of marketing and Sydney-based Norman Joe as ANZ regional sales manager. Christensen brings extensive marketing experience, including roles at IT distributors NEXTGEN and Exclusive Networks, while Joe joins from Commvault and has considerable prior experience from a range of roles at Dicker Data and IBM.

"The depth of IT and channel experience Evan, Anna, and Norman bring to the table will be a catalyst for Cloudian and its partners' continued growth and success in the region as we work to meet customers' evolving data management and protection needs. We'll also continue our recruitment drive across the region over the next year," Cloudian ANZ, ASEAN, and Oceania regional director James Wright says.


Trent Innes has been appointed as the company's new CEO commencing May 2.

Innes, who was previously the managing director of Xero Australia and Asia, will spearhead Compono's next stage of growth into new markets and help employers' rapidly evolving needs as they deal with severe talent shortages and a more remote workforce.

"I am thrilled to be joining the team at Compono and look forward to enhancing the company's global operations and position as a leader in end to end talent solutions that realise the full potential of people," Innes says.

Bonnie Hampton has been appointed as the vice president of Sales, North America, to lead the organisation's sales operations in the region. Hampton brings extensive experience and platinum sales performance from companies such as SUSE, Pure Storage, and Zones. Hampton will focus her efforts on CybeReady's Adaptive Training Platform.

As the vice president of Sales, North America, Hampton plans to strengthen CybeReady's overall sales organisation.

Some goals include building upon CybeReady's established presence in the channel and expanding sales with enterprises concerned about the sharp rise in cybersecurity attacks occurring in 2022. This has opened a significant market opportunity where training employees has become an important defence against the increasing number of malicious cyber-attacks.

Before joining CybeReady, Hampton was the North America Sales Director in State and Local Government and Education for open source leader at SUSE.

Prior to SUSE, she was a platinum performing account executive for Pure Storage, where she secured the most net new logos for the company's Central Team in FY2021. Leading up to Pure Storage, she was a platinum performing account manager who ranked in the top 10% of all sales representatives during FY2017 while also managing business development.

"There is no better time than now to lead CybeReady's sales efforts in the market as demand for fast and effective cyber training is top of mind across all business sectors," Hampton says.

Recruiting the seasoned cyber specialist from NTT, Neville Burdan has been appointed as security leader across Asia Pacific.

Singapore-based Burdan will be responsible for the global system integrator's (GSI) regional security division, which includes cyber defence, digital identity, secured infrastructure and security risk management capabilities, effective immediately. The move will see him sync up with Seelan Nayagam as president of Asia Pacific and Mark Hughes as global president of security.

"I am honoured to be selected to lead the DXC security business by two very passionate, client-centric and people-centric leaders, thank you Seelan Nayagam and Mark Hughes," Burdan writes.

The switch brings down the curtain on a career spanning over 16 years at NTT, following management positions at then Datacraft and Dimension Data running Microsoft, end-user computing and security practices.

Most recently, Burdan spearheaded the strategy and implementation of NTT's cyber security solutions in Asia Pacific, overseeing regional teams with a specific focus on consulting and managed security services within physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure environments.

"It all started with Datacraft and setting up the Microsoft business to grow and prosper in Asia Pacific. Having built the Microsoft business and moved to information worker and then cyber security in Dimension Data, the journey was never boring. Best wishes, NTT," Burdan writes.

Prior to joining then Datacraft in 2006, Burdan spent more than eight years at Microsoft in both New Zealand and Singapore, holding technical positions while also helping to incubate emerging server technologies regionally. This was in addition to systems engineering roles at Digital Equipment Corporation, Open Technology and Consultech Engineering, among others pre-2000.


Joe Lee has been appointed as vice president of Asia Pacific sales. His appointment is the latest example of Forter's investment and growth in the region.

Lee brings to Forter more than 20 years of global sales experience in enterprise software. His passion for building, coaching, and supporting high-performance sales teams across multiple cultures has helped companies achieve record revenues and navigate successful IPOs.

Prior to Forter, Lee held management roles at Cisco and Cloudera ASEAN/India, where he helped expand regional revenue from zero to $25 million. Lee will draw on his expertise to expand Forter's footprint across APAC and to deepen and establish new local customer relationships.

"I am thrilled to join Forter and to be a part of a new chapter in digital commerce enablement," Lee says.

Elise Hayes has been appointed as strategic alliance director for North America. Hayes will be working to expand IriusRisk's partner relationships in North America as the company capitalises on high demand in the market.

Hayes joins with nearly two decades of experience in sales, business development, and strategic alliances in software companies. Prior to joining IriusRisk, she was the Strategic Alliance Director at Equifax, where she was responsible for driving and executive key partner solution strategies. Before that, she held business development and strategy roles at Softchoice, Rackspace and Lumen Technologies, where she also led and executed joint go-to-market strategies with partners.

"I am delighted to join IriusRisk, a company that is helping developers and security architects worldwide create applications that are secure by design. I am looking forward to building on IriusRisk's success by expanding their reach in North America and supporting them in establishing strategic partnerships," Hayes says.

Industry veteran Dennis Kozak has been appointed as chief operating officer (COO) effective April 25, 2022.

As COO, Kozak will oversee Ivanti marketing, global sales, customer experience and operations.

Additionally, Kozak has a successful track record of driving sales growth, establishing top-tier partnerships, and integrating acquisitions while achieving operational excellence through innovation and cultural transformations.

"Dennis' track record of helping organisations in a similar growth pattern to Ivanti will be beneficial for us this year as we continue executing on our mission to secure and enable the Everywhere Workplace," Ivanti CEO Jeff Abbott says.

"With the momentum from five acquisitions over the past 16 months, Dennis will provide operational excellence and best practices to further catapult Ivanti to the next level. Our ultimate goals are to help our customers and partners achieve their business outcomes while providing an incredible opportunity for our employees to flourish. Dennis is the right executive to lead this mission."

Kozak has more than 25 years of experience driving strategy and sales while developing relationships to further an organisation's goals and also brings a wealth of channel experience to advance Ivanti's partner programme momentum.

"I have been watching Ivanti for some time and have been incredibly impressed with Jeff's leadership, the team's passion and knowledge and the company's vision for improving the experience of IT and employees in this Everywhere Workplace environment," Kozak says.

"I saw where my experience and background could add value in the company's next evolution and wanted to be a part of it. I am incredibly excited to be joining this team."


Melanie Davison has recently joined the team as a technical sales consultant to aid in the company's ongoing drive to help clients capitalise on the full potential of AV and IT integration.

Davison has over 16 years of experience in the corporate IT industry, including Account Management at Datacom and ten years in Sales at HP New Zealand.

She has always had a keen interest in the audio visual, and technology space. She studied at the School of Audio Engineering (SAE) before working in a variety of sales and operations roles in the end-user and Enterprise technology space.

Stephen Ward, who joined Kodum as Sales Director for New Zealand and the Pacific in January, sees Davison's appointment as a key part of the business, offering clients key insights and ongoing solutions development.

"Melanie is great at fostering strong ongoing client relationships," Ward says. "She engages at a much deeper level that comes with experience, offering expert knowledge and relevant solutions. We're really excited about having her on board."

Kodum is part of the Vega Global Group, a leading provider of integrated AV and IT solutions, and Davison sees this mix of local and international capabilities as a great competitive advantage for the company.

"We're local, so we understand how New Zealand business operates, and because we're part of a global group, we can provide relevant products and services that are truly world-class," Davison says.

Davison will be focused on supporting Kodum's growing network of Auckland clients.


Karim Toubba has joined the company as its CEO.

The cloud security veteran will lead LastPass as it separates from GoTo, formerly LogMeIn, and increases investment to create an even more seamless user experience, modernise go-to-market functions, and continue to build password and identity management solutions for the company's customers.

Toubba succeeds LastPass' interim CEO, Mike Kohlsdorf, who will continue to lead GoTo as CEO.

"This is a transformational moment for LastPass, and we are thrilled to bring Karim on board to lead the next chapter of LastPass," Kohlsdorf says.

"He brings the right blend of security, innovation and leadership experience to lead LastPass, addressing the needs of our customers, all while ensuring we continue to grow rapidly and evolve our product offerings."

"We're delighted to welcome Karim as the new CEO during this significant phase at LastPass," Francisco Partners partner Andrew Kowal says.

"There is a critical need in the market for secure identity verification and LastPass is poised to deliver strategic value against a vast growth opportunity."

Toubba, who served as CEO of Kenna Security, which Cisco acquired in July of 2021, brings over 25 years of security leadership and executive management in technology companies to his new role.

"I'm excited to join LastPass due to the incredible opportunity to make an impact in identity management, which is one of the largest and most important segments within cybersecurity, one that is a critical first step in how users experience online services but that is often at the forefront of cyberattacks," Karim Toubba says.

"LastPass is already the leader in the password management category but now we have an opportunity to further innovate and deliver additional value for our 100,000 business customers and more than 33 million registered users worldwide."

NTT Research

The division of NTT has named Dr Al Emondi as head of partner strategy.

An experienced organisational and technology leader, Dr Emondi joined NTT Research in March 2022 on a contract basis as part of its leadership advisory team, with responsibilities that include growth and research partner opportunities, strategic project and program support, partner enablement and value, and research investments.

Dr Emondi is also President and CEO of Piontier, a technology development and neurotech product line consultancy. He was previously a Program Manager for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and CTO of the U.S. Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic. Dr Emondi received his M.S. in Electrical Engineering and PhD in neuroscience from Syracuse University.

"We're delighted to welcome Dr. Emondi to NTT Research," NTT Research president and CEO Kazuhiro Gomi says.

"He brings a wealth of experience in strategic technology management and will play a key role as we optimise our existing partnerships and explore new areas of growth," Kazuhiro adds.

Since its founding in 2019, NTT Research has undertaken a wide range of joint research with academic institutions, government agencies and private research organisations, both in the U.S. and worldwide.

Dr Emondi is also being tasked with contributing to organisational strategy and fostering a team culture that maximises creativity and innovation.

Society Pass (SoPa)

The company announced its second office expansion in Metro Manila with Arbie Pagdaganan at its helm as its first female country manager.

"Philippines is a cornerstone of SoPa's VIP (Vietnam, Indonesia, and Philippines) acquisition strategy. I am proud to appoint our VP of Product Design, Arbie Pagdaganan, as our Country Manager in the Philippines and look forward to her expert leadership in steering our operations to greater heights," Society Pass founder, chairman, and CEO Dennis Nguyen says.

As Philippines country manager, Pagdaganan manages the country operations with P-L responsibility while coordinating regional finance, operations, and technology teams to conduct due diligence on future acquisitions in the country. Pagdaganan brings with her a rich background of over a decade of experience in visual design, branding, user interaction and product design across organisations, including SoPa's Leflair.

Additionally, in her dual role as vice president of product development, Pagdaganan will be spearheading an organisation-wide transformation of design systems and front-end apps of all business units.

"Given the immense potential of the Philippines market, I am looking forward to herald the next e-commerce revolution in the country with SoPa's unique modus operandi and look forward to taking my team along in this successful journey," Pagdaganan says.

Pagdaganan will also lead SoPa's aggressive new plans for, which include adding more hubs in key cities and regions and increasing its workforce. In addition, SoPa aims to expand Pushkart. ph's technology offering, phenomenally increasing registered users to more than double to over 300,000 and driving app downloads to over 150,000 in 2022.


Neil Matthews has joined the company as head of business development - repairs, and Bruce Colter has joined as general manager for Titomic's US branch. Both will commence employment on May 2.

Before joining Titomic, Matthews was RUAG head of research and technology and the technical lead for Additive Metal Technologies based in Melbourne.

During his 18 years in this industry, he has written journal papers and books, contributed to books, and is a recognised pioneer and industry leader.

Furthermore, in 2021, Matthews was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of his outstanding efforts for significant service to aerospace component repair technologies.

Colter will be based in Michigan, USA, where he will be running the North American business, focussing on growing the business in that region.

He has 25 years of experience in the Digital Manufacturing Sector, including Cold Spray Manufacturing. Bruce is a proven business leader, having commercialised, grown and rebuilt numerous 3D printing and Advanced Manufacturing businesses, most recently Spee3D America.

"Having two giants of the Cold Spray Industry join Titomic is a clear recognition of the opportunities and exciting future that we have ahead of us," Titomic managing director Herbert Koeck says.

"They will assist us in continuing to scale the business in these key markets and segments and we are thrilled to have them on board."

True Balance

The company announced multiple senior appointments as it continues to serve the unbanked and underbanked across India.

These include financial services veteran Souparno Bagchi as its new chief operating officer and fintech expert Himanshu Jaggi as principal product manager as the two new key leaders. They will reinforce the company's expansion across India. In addition, the expanded leadership team will oversee the development and advancement of financial products and services.

"Souparno and Himanshu will further strengthen the team and our endeavour to achieve our mission of making finance available for all," True Balance CEO and founder Charlie Lee says.

Bagchi will lead the operations of True Balance to amplify customer value while ensuring the company's robust growth in lending and payments services. Bagchi will also be responsible for establishing and broadening True Balance's capabilities as a neobank for India's Next Billion people.

As principal product manager, Himanshu Jaggi will spearhead product innovation and development by employing a data-driven approach. He envisions True Balance as a groundbreaking product with a consumer-first approach, serving millions of users through a seamless experience.

Ben Crowe has been appointed as vertical sales leader, colocation (colo) and hyperscale, for Australia and New Zealand. Crowe will be responsible for developing strategic alignment and deepening relationships with the ANZ colo and hyperscale partners.

Crowe joined Vertiv in August last year as key account manager for its colo and hyperscale division in Asia Pacific and India. In this role, he developed strong partner relationships and demonstrated a proactive ability to enable partner-led growth, prompting the promotion to lead the colo and hyperscale ANZ business. Crowe will spend the next 12 months expanding the local team and increasing its footprint, especially with sustainable technologies.

"We're in a highly attractive industry for investment. COVID-19 sparked more digitisation and data centre activity, and many companies with a 'foot in' the industry, such as telcos and cloud players, are doubling down on colo facilities," Crowe says.

"As we capitalise on this market, Vertiv won't just be a supplier of data centre products and services, we will be a trustworthy partner in delivering the technology of the future and building out the white space," Crowe adds.

"Ben's appointment comes at a critical time for the colo and hyperscale division. The increased demand for data centre capacity has raised the issue of energy consumption in data centre construction and operation," Vertiv ANZ product and service sales director LuLu Shiraz says.

"While there are plenty of new technologies coming down the line that will support emissions reduction, there is plenty that can be done now to help navigate through this challenge.

Jo-Anne Ruhl is the new vice president and managing director of Workday Australia and New Zealand.

Stephen Jack, who previously held the role for more than four years, continues as a director with Workday Australia - New Zealand, helping advise and support Ruhl on business and customer strategies.

Ruhl joined Workday in 2018 and successfully led and helped grow Workday's ANZ mid-enterprise and customer experience team. She has built her career in the technology industry in a variety of leadership roles over the last two decades, including roles at Oracle and Infor.

Workday Australia and New Zealand, which has been operating in the region for more than a decade, continues to see strong customer momentum with organisations such as The Warehouse Group, Carlisle Homes, Chorus, and Swyftx, having selected Workday to support their businesses in the changing world.

"Jo-Anne's ability to build high performance teams and deliver on strong customer and business outcomes perfectly aligns with leading our ANZ business into the next phase of its growth.
