Symbio, Cisco partner to launch Webex Calling in Singapore
Wed, 6th Jul 2022
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Symbio has partnered with Cisco to launch a unified communications offering for Cisco's Cloud Connect for Webex Calling.

The offering, available to Cisco resellers and their customers in Singapore, marks the first time the country's telecommunications market has been able to provide a straightforward, cost-effective cloud communication offering for Webex Calling.

This will allow end users to call locally and globally through Symbio's global voice network.

Symbio's cloud-native offering removes on-premise infrastructure requirements, reducing hardware and deployment costs to help companies migrate to the cloud.

The announcement follows Symbio's initial entry into Singapore in 2021, making it the first fully interconnected voice carrier to build local network capabilities in the country for over 20 years.

"Bringing our unified communications offering to Singapore signifies a significant step in our regional business expansion strategy," Symbio co-founder and CEO Rene Sugo says.

"We are proud to be setting the pace for innovation and disrupting Singapore's telecommunications sector by giving customers access to Cisco cloud calling capabilities that were not previously possible in the country."

The latest integration in Singapore builds on Symbio's strong partnerships with Cisco in Australia and New Zealand, where the company provides cloud-native calling capabilities for customers across enterprise and government sectors.

"Today's employees are working from everywhere; from home, the office and anywhere in between," Cisco Singapore and Brunei country manager Andy Lee says.

"Whether they're calling, creating, sharing, or using voice or presence capabilities, they need to do it from a variety of devices, and the experience needs to be seamless.

"The ability to innovate and scale hinges on quality collaboration and communication, including cloud calling.

"As the leader in cloud calling, Cisco and our Partners, such as Symbio, will deliver an end-to-end, secure calling experience with best-in-class innovations to customers."

Symbio integrating its offering with Cloud Connect for Webex Calling will also allow Cisco resellers to provide a robust end-to-end solution.

In addition, Symbio's fully integrated, cloud public switched telephone network service will mean Webex customers can make calls from home, the office or anywhere in the world using a single global provider.

"Symbio's integration with Cisco will unlock collaboration opportunities for businesses across Singapore by giving them access to our global voice network," Symbio UCaaS division chief executive Iain Falshaw says.

"In the same way Symbio has provided this solution to Cisco partners in Australia and New Zealand we are very excited to be able to offer Cisco's current and future partners in Singapore the same high-quality calling experience."

Cisco also recently launched Panoptica and Calisti, the latest additions to its suite of API-first solutions and tools.

These tools are designed to aid in faster application development cycles and provide businesses with modern application connectivity, security and observability critical for exceptional digital experiences.

The announcement was made at Cisco Live, the premiere networking and security event.

According to Cisco, Panoptica and Calisti underscore the company's strategy towards managing and securing distributed application architectures.
