Fortinet named Leader for SD-WAN in 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant
Mon, 19th Sep 2022
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Fortinet has been named a Leader in the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for SD-WAN for a third consecutive year.

The company has announced it has been positioned highest in ability to execute for two years in a row and recognised for completeness of vision.

In line with the recent announcement, Fortinet says it is continuing to adapt its SD-WAN solution to enable organisations to deliver superior quality of experience to users and simplify architecture with accelerated security and networking convergence for both on-premises and cloud-delivered environments, achieving operational efficiencies across all WAN and cloud edges.

John Maddison, EVP of products and CMO, Fortinet, says that the company's innovation and unique position in the market was part of its success.

"Fortinet was the first vendor to converge SD-WAN and security in one offering, which has become a foundational element of our SASE solution powered by a single operating system FortiOS to empower work-from-anywhere," he says.

"Integrations with Universal ZTNA for secure application connectivity and AIOps to ensure superior user experience further set Fortinet Secure SD-WAN apart from the competition. We believe that our placement as a Leader in the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for SD-WAN is a testament to Fortinets ability to pioneer industry-leading innovations that converge networking and security and deliver solutions that stand as the foundation of network transformation."

The company says its Fortinet Secure SD-WAN was designed to address modern complexity and threat exposure to support customers' critical business needs. It supports the convergence of SD-WAN and AI-powered security using a single operating system FortiOS.

The framework is based on ASIC accelerated SD-WAN, zero-trust network access (ZTNA), and secure access service edge (SASE) to support high-performance automated prevention.

Fortinet's technology also encompasses a combination of deep SSL packet inspection and DNS/URL/Video filtering, antivirus (AV), in-line sandbox, intrusion prevention system (IPS), and Internet of Things (IoT)/operational technology (OT) security services. In addition, it can support hybrid and remote work situations with ZTNA integrated with SD-WAN.

The company also promotes its wide integrated network (LAN, WLAN, WWAN) and security (next-generation firewall) components in a small flexible platform with unified management. They say this helps accelerate deployment and simplifies network architecture.

Next-generation firewall (NGFW) security services and SD-WAN are provided in a single management console, ensuring WAN links are secure and automated with unified policies and quality of experience (QoE).

Fortinet was also named a 2022 Gartner Peer Insights Customers Choice for WAN Edge Infrastructure earlier this year, marking the third time in a row the company has achieved this recognition.
