Adyen unveils robust payment terminals for retail & hospitality

Mon, 10th Nov 2025

Adyen has introduced two new payment terminals, the S1E4 Pro and S1F4 Pro, aimed at supporting the demands of retailers, restaurants, beauty salons, and hospitality businesses. Both devices are designed for durability and operational flexibility in fast-paced service environments.

Device resilience

The S1E4 Pro is positioned as a robust all-in-one mobile point-of-sale device. It carries an IP-65 spill and dust-proof rating and is tested to withstand drops up to 1.5 metres. A large 6.1-inch display, easy-to-hold handstrap, and all-day battery support high-usage scenarios in restaurants, bars, and event venues. The terminal is PCI 6 certified and prepared for future PCI 7 requirements.

The S1F4 Pro offers full mobility as well as an integrated printer, with the flexibility to operate as a docked countertop point-of-sale or as a portable terminal for use throughout a store or hospitality venue. Its large 6.7-inch screen, Octa-core processor, and long-lasting battery enable sustained use in busy retail or service settings. The unit is also equipped with front and rear cameras and a QR code scanner to facilitate varied payment and loyalty programme interactions.

Operational efficiency

Both terminals run on Android 13 OS. This allows businesses to integrate their existing apps directly onto the devices, streamlining operations from order-taking to payment and back-office management without switching hardware. The S1E4 Pro and S1F4 Pro support all major payment methods and currencies, enabling transactions via tap, insert, swipe, or QR code scanning. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi, and, for the S1F4 Pro, Ethernet.

With built-in printing on the S1F4 Pro, businesses can issue receipts or manage order tickets without returning to a central counter, a feature particularly aimed at reducing customer wait times and supporting mobile service models.

Sector focus

The targeted sectors for these terminals include food and beverage, retail, hospitality, and beauty and wellness. The robust build of the S1E4 Pro is intended for settings where accidental spills or drops are common. The S1F4 Pro caters to retailers and service environments seeking enhanced flexibility and the ability to complete transactions on the shop floor or other non-traditional locations.

Customer requirements

"This latest product update underscores our commitment to transforming the in-person payments experience. By listening closely to our customers, we've identified the key gaps in both our previous offering as well as the industry. These new terminals are designed to directly address those requirements, whether that be the need for a rugged device in an F&B setting, or a mobile terminal for retailers which can print, we want to offer powerful, reliable tools tailored to the operational demands of a whole range of verticals, each which has unique needs," said Derk Busser, VP of Product, Adyen.
